Lesson Plan

This lesson plan is a great way of showing young students what the human body is composed of. showing videos of each of the systems covered they will be able to see how each part of their body works and contributes to a whole.

Media Used: Internet/ Television (show)

I based my lesson plan on the website kidshealth.org where they will be able to see videos I have selected for each topic covered. This website also has activities, games and quizzes to do for each section. I also found a really great Magic School Bus video on the digestive tract, which I will show on day of of this lesson plan.

Learner Participation:

For this lesson I would like for the students to be involved and have an understanding of what is inside their body's. I think its very important that the students to understand how their body works and how to stay healthy. The most important thing about this lesson plan, I feel, is the review time after each video. The review time is also a good chance to help those who are audio learners and may need repetition. As for kinesthetic learners I think the activities help a great deal especially Activity 5 because they can interact with the organs. I think its important to make sure these students grasp the concept of each body part and how it follows a system. I would also like to make sure the students have a very clear understanding that their body is like a machine with all parts working together.

Evaluate and Revise:

I havent yet used this lesson plan on a 1st grade class but I am a bit worried that it may be to advanced for them and possibly better suited for a 2nd or even 3rd grade class. Other then that I am very proud of what I have put together. Also, I wish I could incorporate more technology but I wasnt sure of how to do this with younger students on an issue such as the body.
